ARTIST STATEMENT
In a flow state, the division between body and mind dissolves; the two are as one. Channeling attention and focus into the present moment through a conduit of some kind, one of the more potent of which is the creative process, is needed to realize it.
Taweesak’s chosen exhibition title, “FLOW~er: Song of Flower”, begins with wordplay: a verb that overflows and becomes a noun. “Flow”, yoked to “er”, becomes “flower”, acquiring an entirely new meaning. Yet for Taweesak, the simple rearrangement of letters speaks to a profound relationship, as he believes flowers are a sign for flow, embodying order, efflorescence and vitality, as well as growth and the eternal turning of the cycle of life.
The series of works on view are explorations of the flow state. As he creates, Taweesak transforms blank canvases into expanses of color, appearing first as abstract forms that coalesce into flowers in synchrony with the rhythm that underlies a flow state suspended in the immanent field of possibilities within the present moment.
