ARTIST STATEMENT

Lightscape illuminates the “perpetual motion of natural light”, which dances across mosaics made of colored mirror, their brilliant and brittle veneer brought into sharper relief against the softer textures of oil-painted details. Sitvut Prabripoo’s majestic landscapes consider the relationship between fragment and whole: cut into pieces of different sizes, the colored glass coalesces rays of sunlight as they strike the surface of water, shatter into sparkling shards against ice and snow, wink through the leaves of a tree or soak into desert sands, while brushstrokes of oil paint introduce the life of the forest to the canvas.

BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1989, Sitvut Prabripoo is a Thai artist who lives and works in Nan province. He graduated with a major in colored glass, one of Thailand’s ancient craftsmanship traditions, from the Department of Thai Arts, Faculty of Painting, Silpakorn University. Prabripoo fuses his specialization in colored glass technique with the style of Impressionist painting to create art inspired by the environment, living things and nature, the source of nearly every vital aspect of human existence- air, food, shelter, medicine and even aesthetic beauty- underscoring our reliance on the natural ecosystem, in which all things are interconnected and interdependent.

Prabripoo has participated in numerous exhibitions, notably, a solo exhibition at Iconsiam titled “Reflection of the Spirits”, Mango Art Fastival 2021, and Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong. He has also won many awards, receiving the 1st Place Award in an art competition organised by Boon Rawd Brewery.
