Sakul Intakul

The exhibition features a series of eight small-scale bronze sculptures that bridge the gap between fine art and functional objects. Designed to hold water and flowers, these works find their foundation in Intakul’s earlier practice as a floral artist. They serve as a bridge between his mastery of botanical form and his current trajectory as a multi-disciplinary visual artist. These “vessels” remind us that the soul, like a nest, is a space meant to be nurtured, holding the potential for inner growth and spiritual clarity.

Alongside these intimate pieces sits one substantial sculpture, standing approximately 1.5 meters high. Crafted from contemporary materials, this larger work translates the intricate, organic geometry of nature into a modern sculptural language, challenging our perceptions of scale, structure, and our place within the natural order.

A series of paintings executed on Japanese Kozo paper anchors Sakul’s ethereal explorations in the materiality of heritage. The paintings act as visual meditations on memory and intuition, echoing the textures and fibers found in the physical installations and serving as subtle maps for an interior journey.

“Flower & Cosmos: The Universe Within,” considers Sakul’s artistic and spiritual journey over the past 3 decades. The exhibition investigates the connectivity of individuals that makes up the fabric of society with the analogy of single flowers forming an intricate floral net (Takhai Dokmai) in a traditional Thai floral design.

As Sakul writes, “When a flower blooms, the Universe rejoices.” From a minute scale up to the largest degree, all lives and all things in the universe are connected in many unseen dimensions. Nothing can endure all by itself. The truth and the true beauty of our universe lie in this elaborate labyrinth of connectivity from the microscopic to galactic level”.

Sakul reveals this core idea into the form of large-scaled hanging wood sculptures, free-standing metal sculptures, paintings and immersive installations juxtaposing materials used in Thai floral art with digital
media.
