ARTIST STATEMENT

“Alter Ego” is  a group exhibition of works by
BannanaManz, BUTTERRABBITZ & SURREALRABBITZ, Ekarat Aroonrat and Pitch Tangpun

that examines artistic practice as an expansive container of the self.
Across the works on view, distinct subjects, styles and techniques yield journeys of self-discovery propelled by different ideas and inspirations. This showcasing of their creativity, inner worlds, memories and formative cultural experiences takes on a range of forms: designing characters, creating powerful compositions made from simple techniques, time travelling to bygone worlds that limn the present, referencing meaningful songs, films and popular icons in playful sculptures
or venturing into the imagination of a fictional young girl.

For this formidable quartet of artists, the act of inventing new worlds draws them closest
to who they are. Within differing practices and preoccupations, they express themselves in artworks that radiate a constellation of connections to world events, cultural shifts and shared experiences.
