ARTIST STATEMENT

Sunrise Diptyque
“It reminded me how genuinely romantic I was. I don’t feel in anything that relates to love anymore. It’s
almost like in a way I put al my romanticism into that night, I lose him and I was never able to feel al
this again.”-Before Sunset (2004)
At one point, we al have our own ‘Before Sunrise’, a relationship that happens and ends in a short
period of time but cannot be erased from memory. Similarly, the waiting for a lost person and day goes
by, as wel as the events that occur. Standing in front of canvas, drive through the landscape, through
the remnants of memories find out what’s leftover. Through my artistic practice, I have always repeated
things layer on top of layer on top of layer for seven days everyday and I suppose that repetition and
that sort of reoccurrence somehow let colour determines form and form depends on colour.
