BIOGRAPHY

Ake Rodmek was born in 1991. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the faculty of Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Art at  Silpakorn University in 2015. In early 2018, Ake began learning and creating glass art with BGC Glass Studio.  He initially started as an affiliated artist with the studio, and later had the opportunity to learn from several international glass artists. In 2021, Ake received support from BGC Glass Studio to participate in the “International Superior Glass Art Education 2020” program at the Glass Ceramic Design Department, Namseoul University, Republic of Korea.

Ake’s work often reflects his interpretations of the surrounding environment and society through various glass art techniques. He has received awards and been selected to exhibit his work both in Thailand and internationally. For example, his series “For Those Who Passed Away” received a runner-up award from the “Viral Glass 2021” competition organized by Habatat Gallery, USA (2021).  His series “The Uncertainty” was exhibited at the “International Biennale of Glass 2021” in Bulgaria (2021), and the series “Light up the city” was selected to participate in “The Glass Prize 2022” competition in the UK (2022).
