Individual Artworks
Wasinburee expands upon the idea of “becoming” through the artistic process—deeply entangled with material—and through questioning recorded history. Through hands-on processes, material selection, experimentation, and installation, the artist reconsiders and reinterprets notions of civilization through thought, emotion, memory, and identity.
The significance of his sculptures lies not only in their physical appearance or tactile surfaces, but in the “process” that made them “become” what they are—the ideas behind them, their purposes, their design, their shape, the way they are being fired, and through many decisions filled with meaning that they embody. These processes do not only generate innovation in objects but also bring about transformation in communities, cultures, and human consciousness. This is a journey of thought and action—filtered and— forged where materials such as clay or metal become something new, with human beings at the center, to choose, to act, and to take responsibility for each transformation.
